I’m finally planning my huge-ish 2017 trip. The trip is scheduled for me to leave in about a month’s time and I’ve not done anything except to book my plane ticket and the accommodation for the first day. Granted, I was waiting for someone to confirm some dates with me but I could have arranged the second part of my trip (which will be in a different country) but I’ve been too busy with all kinds of events to do so.
I just completed the next step in my planning – buying travel insurance. I’m a firm believer in travel insurance but I never had to claim before (then it always feels like I wasted money). But I don’t want to be in situation where I need it but don’t have it. I’ve been buying my insurance from Tenet Sompo for the past 1-2 years. Mainly because I like their website interface but more importantly because they cover recreational diving. I’m sure there are others that covers diving as well. For an upcoming (really short) trip, I bought FWD. FWD is a new kid on the block and they’re cheap. I think it would work well for short (non dangerous) trips.
I think this trip will test me to certain extent – not only will I be going to places where there are quite some bad media reports. But I’ll be doing a border crossing. I think that scares me a little more. This trip will push me out of my comfort zone.
I can’t wait to share more information with you all once I have my itinerary down pat.
The picture above was taken in Iceland last year. I’ll not be going to any cold places this year. 🙁
